Sam and his wife Mariah were both born and raised in Snohomish County. Sam graduated from Everett High School, and Mariah graduated from Snohomish High School. Sam has a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, and has served as a basketball coach, teacher, minister, and small business owner. He now lives with his family and their dogs, Auggie and Sarge, in Lake Stevens.
As your current Snohomish County Councilmember, Sam has a proven history of reaching out and finding solutions that work. His track record shows that he has the leadership qualities and experience to work effectively in this county. Sam was the City of Lake Stevens Cavalero County Park Representative for the planning of the new Rotary Skate Park and Dog Park. He is a strong supporter of the Monroe Homeless Coalition and has fought for funding for our Senior Centers, local food banks, and Community Organizations like Take the Next Step in Monroe. Sam has served on the County Canvassing Board for the past 5 years helping provide safe and secure elections in Snohomish County. Sam served as Chair of the Conservation Futures Board which preserves farmland and open spaces in our region.
Sam has fought for fair and equal representation for everyone, no matter where you live. He is for protecting property rights! Whether or not you are a small property owner, you deserve to be treated with the same fairness as everyone else. For Sam, public safety has always been, and continues to be, a top priority; that is why he is consistently endorsed by our Snohomish County Deputies Association. Sam also recognizes that we must provide safe and efficient roadway infrastructure to travel safely throughout the 39th district. We live in such a beautiful area with so many things to see and do. Sam supports making our recreation areas accessible and improving the amenities associated with them. Sam is guided by our Constitution and believes in preserving our 1st and 2nd amendment rights on the local level.
Sam has shown that he is active member of our local community. Recently, Sam was recognized by the Sky Valley Arts Council as the 2022 supporter of the year for his work in the transformation of the Startup Events Center. Sam has been heavily involved in the Lake Stevens Rotary, previously serving as their president in 2017. He has been recognized for his volunteer work on the Granite Falls Boys and Girls Club. Sam has also sponsored several local sports teams, supported a new library in Lake Stevens, and been an active supporter of our local food banks. Sam donated his time painting the Lake Stevens city entry signs, and volunteered to complete a refinish to the Lake Stevens swim beach dock. Through Rotary, Sam has done several community clean-up projects. Sam also has been a sponsor of the C-Trail run through his business.
